Since the Annual General Assembly of January 2007, during which a new set of general bylaws was adopted, a Board of Administrators made up of five seats directs Helem Montréal. Representation of all sexes is strongly encouraged, even though it is often difficult to attain. Three of the seats are elected at the annual assembly et two at the semi-annual assembly. Below are the five individuals currently seated on the Board:
PRESIDENT : Rémy N.
The President is the official spokesperson of the organization. He represents the group to the media, to other organizations, to the government and to the wider public. He presides at the meetings of the Board of Administrators as well as the assemblies, and looks after the proper functioning of the organization. He works in close collaboration with each member of the Board.
VICE PRESIDENT : Marc F.
The Vice President is at the right hand of the President, and may replace him in the event of absence. The Vice President is responsible for the quality of services offered to members and for their well-being. He or she is the link between the members and the Board of Administrators. Also, the VP is responsible for the welcoming and integration of new members.
TREASURER : Charbel K.
The Treasurer records and monitors the finances of the organization and looks after the management of resources. It is thanks to the treasurer that the organization functions to its potential while assuring its financial stability. At the end of each year, he or she prepares a financial balance sheet and a new budget for the coming year.
SECRETARY : position is vacant
The Secretary functions as a sort of ‘living memory’ of the Board. He or she assures the follow-up and maintenance of current and archived files. The Secretary handles communication with members, convenes meetings and assemblies, is responsible for taking minutes and for updating the member list.
OFFICER : Sam K.
The position of Officer is there to guarantee the balanced allocation of tasks within the Board of Administrators. He or she undertakes files and tasks assigned by the Council as needed. It becomes a key position in terms of handling overflow and assuring the smooth functioning of the Council.
